Affordable housing advocates are urging the City of Toronto to reconsider staff recommendations to designate a Liberty Village property as a heritage site. Vacant since 2020, the site has been tabbed eventually to accommodate supportive housing and a mix of affordable and market-rate rental units, but a heritage designation could prolong and complicate those redevelopment efforts, advocates say.
