Local residents are hoping to maximize opportunities for much-needed civic amenities across two downtown properties being harnessed by the province for the development of a mixed-use, transit-oriented community. And they have their sights set not only on securing the future prosperity of the Corktown community, but also, emphatically, on commemorating the history of the site’s past.
In March 2021, Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario submitted a zoning by-law amendment application to the City of Toronto to redevelop two sites in downtown Toronto’s Corktown neighbourhood, where a subway station on the future 15.5-kilometre-long Ontario Line will be located.
