CREATING CONNECTED COMMUNITIES

A new community design concept is re-imagining how public and private spaces can blend more seamlessly together to better create connected communities capable of withstanding the sudden shocks of climate crisis-related extreme weather events, or public health crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Neighbourhood Nests,’ an urban design model crafted by Toronto-based architecture firm Quadrangle and their social impact brand, Human Space, aims to strengthen the connective tissue among urban residents by modifying the lobbies of private buildings into spaces for social gathering in times of ease and places of refuge when things turn turbulent.
