After many years of debate and mixed public perception, the Government of Ontario has officially begun work on its polarizing Bradford Bypass project — a new four-lane highway proposed to link Highway 400 and Highway 404 in Simcoe County and York Region. On Wednesday, November 9, the province announced that construction has begun on a bridge over the future Bypass. The bridge will allow County of Simcoe Road 4 (also known as Yonge Street) to cross over the Bypass between 8th and 9th Lines in the north end of the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. The project will also include the widening of County Road 4 from two to four lanes.
