Enhancing the vitality of main streets and protecting main street businesses from the social and economic effects of the ongoing pandemic may be a crucial element to bringing back towns and cities whenever quarantine fully ends.

The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) launched the Main Street Design Challenge June 1, a national design competition inviting planners, architects, and designers to submit designs that will help reanimate main streets in cities and towns across Canada.
