From 1983 to 1989, Planning and Development Hotline reported planning and development news from Metro Toronto, Scarborough, East York, North York, York, Etobicoke and Toronto  and the Toronto Land Use Report covered the proceedings of Toronto’s Land Use Committee.

In 1989, both newsletters were purchased by Hemson Consulting Ltd. and were renamed The Hemson Planning & Development Report and The Hemson Toronto Land Use Report.
