Last week’s open house on the proposed development application for 555 West Cordova next to the old CPR station was more of an opportunity for interested parties to chat in groups about the site than what kind of building will go there.

While owner/developer Cadillac Fairview provided display materials outlining urban design principles for the site, various renderings and summaries of urban design panel concerns and the project team’s response, many of the conversations centred on the bigger picture — the surrounding area the city calls the central waterfront hub.
